Chargefox Deploys First Tritium DC High Power Chargers in Australia
Tritium’s Veefil-PK 350kW DC High Power Charger can add 400km range in 15 minutes
Brisbane, Australia, May 10, 2019 – Tritium, a world leader in electric vehicle (EV) DC fast charging technology, has deployed its Veefil-PK 350kW DC High Power Chargers for the first time in Australia as part of Chargefox’s new ultra-rapid network site at the Toombul Shopping Centre in Brisbane.
Chargefox is creating a network of 22 ultra-rapid publicly-available DC charging sites across Australia featuring 350kW chargers and 50kW DC Fast Chargers.
The two 350kW chargers installed at the Toombul Shopping Centre can charge two cars simultaneously and are equipped with CCS2 plug types. Considered the most advanced charger in the world, the Veefil-PK can add up to 400km of range to an EV in just 15 minutes, or 200km in eight minutes.
“The new charging station is an important step in connecting electric vehicle drivers in Brisbane to the latest and fastest charging infrastructure,” said Marty Andrews, CEO, Chargefox. “Chargefox is committed to helping Australia transform from being a global laggard in transport innovation to having only the third ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging network in the world. Our new Brisbane station at Toombul Shopping Centre is the next stepping-stone on our journey to connect Australia’s major cities for the thousands of drivers using efficient, clean electric vehicles.
“These are the first Tritium ultra-rapid chargers installed in Australia, and brings together world class products from two Australian businesses. This is a first in Queensland and revolutionises the EV public charging experience for all drivers.”
The site also features a Tritium Veefil-RT 50kW DC Fast Charger, equipped with both CHAdeMO and CCS2 plug types making it suitable for all current and future EVs, including Tesla when used with an adapter. This charger can add 75km of range in 15 minutes of charging, and a number of these chargers have already been installed at Chargefox’s other ultra-rapid network sites at Euroa and Barnawartha North in Victoria.
“The deployment of the Veefil-PK brings Australia in line with other regions across the globe such as Europe where these chargers are being rolled out by the hundreds across the continent,” said Chris Hewitt, Head of Sales Australia, Tritium. “This is the next step towards Australia eliminating range anxiety and enabling true range and energy freedom.
“With EVs now on Australia’s radar, its thanks to network operators such as Chargefox that Australians can feel comfortable driving wherever and whenever they want.”
The Veefil-PK is being deployed by the IONITY network – a joint venture of the BMW Group, Daimler AG, Ford Motor Company and the Volkswagen Group including Audi and Porsche – at sites across Europe.
Tritium’s Veefil-RT 50kW DC Fast Chargers are deployed across Australia, making up more than 70 per cent of the publicly-available DC chargers in Australia. In addition to being installed at the three Chargefox ultra-rapid sites so far, these chargers make up the backbone of the NRMA’s network of a planned 40 sites across New South Wales, as well as nearly all of the chargers along the famed Queensland Electric Super Highway, the longest EV charging network in the world.

Pod Point to deploy Tritium’s world-leading chargers into existing and future network rollouts across the United Kingdom
London, United Kingdom, March 9, 2020 – Tritium, a world leader in electric vehicle (EV) DC fast charging technology, has announced it has signed a preferred supplier agreement with Pod Point, one of the United Kingdom’s largest providers of electric vehicle charging solutions whose customers include leading retail chains across the country.
The agreement ensures Tritium’s Veefil-RT 50kW DC rapid charger, renowned for its compact design, ease of use and low maintenance, will be offered to Pod Point’s new and existing customers as part of its continuing nationwide EV charging network rollout.
Pod Point chose Tritium as its preferred DC rapid charger supplier due to the proven reliability of Tritium’s chargers, the ease and speed of installation and their unique design, which enable Pod Point to offer selected customers the ability to add their branding to each charger.
Erik Fairbairn, Pod Point CEO & Founder said: “EV adoption is accelerating rapidly in the UK and we’re making sure the charging infrastructure is in place to sustain the awesome growth trend that we’re seeing.”
“We decided to work with Tritium because their products are reliable, easy to install and have a small physical footprint. We also liked that it’s easy to add custom branding to the units too.”
“DC fast charging is a key part of the UK charger mix, especially for drivers who need to re-charge quickly on long journeys or in emergencies, and for commercial vehicles that can’t top-up charge because they don’t park often.”
Since its inception in 2009, Pod Point has manufactured and sold more than 69,000 charging points across the UK and Norway.
Tritium launched its Veefil-RT 50kW DC rapid charger in 2014 and since then has installed over 4,000 DC chargers, including many Veefil-PK 350kW DC high power chargers, for customers in more than 33 countries.
With the number of chargers that Pod Point requires for its rollouts and the speed at which they can be deployed and installed, Tritium’s Director of Business Development Europe, Jeroen Jonker, says the agreement with Pod Point was a natural fit.
“We have already successfully deployed the first rapid chargers to Pod Point ahead of this agreement; Pod Point values this ease of installation and roll-out speed,” said Jonker. “Pod Point’s clients also appreciate that our charger has the world’s smallest footprint, enabling charger deployment on their parking lots without sacrificing premium real estate.”
The UK Government recently announced its plan to bring forward the deadline for the ban on selling new petrol, diesel and hybrid cars from 2040 to 2035. Tritium’s Country Manager for the UK and Ireland, Kevin Pugh, says the need to rollout public charging infrastructure will now become paramount.
“Electric vehicle interest was already increasing, and when you combine that with the Government’s amended deadline it’s clear we’ll see electric vehicles become the norm sooner rather than later,” said Pugh. “However, not everyone in the UK has access to off-street parking, and as such drivers aren’t always able to recharge at home and overnight. This needs to be addressed with publicly available, reliable and plentiful charging infrastructure, and one of Tritium’s core goals is to make EV charging more convenient than re-fuelling.
“As diesel, petrol and hybrid vehicles are phased out, Pod Point’s rollout will be key to addressing this concern and ensuring drivers can charge whenever they need to. Our chargers can be fitted with contactless credit card readers to facilitate ad hoc payment, an increasingly important requirement in the UK market.”

EasyGo.ie launches most advanced electric vehicle charger in Ireland
Tritium’s Veefil-RT 50kW DC rapid charger at Four Seasons Hotel Monaghancan add 50km of range to an EV in 10 minutes
EasyGo.ie plans to deploy 88 DC rapid chargers in Ireland by end of 2020, leading to the creation of up to 50 jobs
Monaghan, Ireland, March 26, 2019 – EasyGo.ie, Ireland’s first privately-owned electric vehicle (EV) charging network, yesterday unveiled Ireland’s most advanced, publicly-available DC charger at the Four Seasons Hotel in Monaghan.
EasyGo.ie has deployed a Veefil-RT 50kW DC rapid charger from world-leading DC charging technology specialist, Tritium. The successful installation marks the first deployment of a rapid charger in Ireland on a new site in some time, and the first deployment of a 50kW DC public charger on a private network in Ireland. The charger, the most advanced of its kind with the smallest physical footprint in the world, can add 50 kilometres of range to an electric vehicle in just 10 minutes.
EasyGo.ie, founded in 2018 by Chris Kelly and Gerry Cash, also announced plans to install 88 of Tritium’s DC rapid chargers by the end of 2020, with at least 20 to be deployed by the end of 2019, leading to the creation of up to 50 new jobs in operations and customer support.
“Sales of new EVs in Ireland have INCREASED BY 541 PER CENT this year alone, so it’s clear we’ll need more charge points to cater for an increase in EVs on the road,” said EasyGo.ie co-founder, Chris Kelly. “EV drivers are always looking for places to charge and the availability of this and future rapid chargers will help ensure drivers have options across Ireland, from Malin Head to Mizen Head.”
The charger was unveiled at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel in Monaghan yesterday afternoon.
“We’ve always strived to serve the present and future needs of our customers by staying ahead of the curve, and the world is trending closer towards a zero-emissions, electric vehicle future,” said Frank McKenna, Director, Four Seasons Hotel Monaghan. “We worked with EasyGo.ie to install the charger at our site because we want to cater to EV owners who will need to charge their vehicles not only quickly, but in comfort and style; while their car charges, they can avail of all the facilities that the hotel has to offer.
“This is the future of travel in Ireland, and the selection of our hotel as the first site to have a rapid charger installation in a number of years is a testament both to EasyGo.ie’s foresight and our ethos of providing the best service to our guests.”
The Ceremony was attended by Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys T.D.
“The deployment of the EasyGo.ie DC rapid charger is yet another step forward in our efforts to combat climate change,” said Minister Humphreys. “Ireland has been a leader in the eMobility space for some time, and with EasyGo.ie entering the market and establishing itself quickly with installations such as this one and those planned for the future, Ireland will continue to lead the way.”
EasyGo.ie partnered with Tritium to leverage Tritium’s expertise in design, deployment and engineering, combined with its superior backend consultation and support capabilities. Tritium has installed chargers in more than 29 countries and its Veefil-RT is considered the most advanced charger of its kind in the world, with the smallest physical footprint – ensuring installation can be undertaken unobtrusively and successfully in areas where real estate or space is at a premium.
“It’s been proven time and again the world over that the installation of publicly-available rapid charging options leads to greater EV uptake,” said Kevin Pugh, Business Development Manager for Tritium, UK and Ireland. “With EasyGo.ie planning to install chargers at 88 sites in two years, you’ll start to see a noticeable increase in EV adoption and this will have a major impact in helping Ireland achieve its climate change goals.
“People see publicly-available chargers and begin to recognise that, as the infrastructure is being put into place, EVs are clearly here to stay.”
Each Veefil-RT DC rapid charger features a modem which can alert EasyGo.ie and EV drivers – using the EasyGo.ie web app (with a native app coming soon) – in real-time if the charger is available or not.
Michael Lennon, President of the Irish Hotels Federation (IHF), said the installation is another significant step towards a greener future for Ireland.
“Ireland is experiencing challenges in meeting its climate change targets with the prospect of paying substantial fines. As a sector, we recognise that we can be part of the solution and many hotels are already making substantial efforts to further improve their sustainability,” said Lennon. “The IHF is taking an active role in this area and has formed a Sustainability Committee to develop new policies, practices and initiatives to help our industry play its part.
“Ireland is approaching an electric vehicle future and I commend the Four Seasons Hotel for embracing rapid charger installation.”

Tritium continues Americas expansion with first President appointment
Cleantech leader Jeff Wolfe joins Tritium to accelerate the DC fast charging market for EVs in the Americas
Torrance, CA. & Brisbane, Australia – February 4, 2019 – TRITIUM, a world leader in electric vehicle (EV) DC fast charging technology, has executed the next phase of its expansion in the Americas with the appointment of its first President for the region. Cleantech industry veteran, Jeff Wolfe, has joined the company to drive strategic expansion and deployment of Tritium’s technology at a time when EV adoption is moving from niche toward mainstream.
In this newly-created role, Wolfe will drive business across the Americas with an initial focus on the United States. As a result, Tritium will help to move the US charging industry through a diverse and complex regulatory environment to create opportunities for expanded DC fast charging infrastructure in key states and industry verticals, including utilities, transport and infrastructure, government and retail.
“The Americas EV market is steadily developing, however industry continues to navigate challenges around infrastructure, and the limited ability to meet the needs of organizations and consumers with existing ‘Level 2’ chargers which cap charging speeds to 7kW,” said David Finn, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, Tritium. “Tritium is focused on eliminating this public anxiety by working as the technology partner of key industry stakeholders to build out rapid DC charging – known as ‘Level 3’, reflecting vastly improved speeds. Having already played a pivotal role in the transformation of the solar industry, Jeff brings to us experience that will be critical in achieving this goal, and our wider strategic expansion in the Americas. We are in a great position to transition the ‘gas station experience’ to the modern era.”
Commenting on his appointment, Wolfe said: “The EV market is growing quickly across North America as the electrification of transportation moves forward. “Several factors will trigger the adoption surge. We already see an increased pull from legislators and regulators in many states who are creating programs, incentives, and regulatory realignment. Additionally, an influx of new vehicles will become available, increasing consumer choice and appeal. Finally, lower cost EVs will emerge, opening the market to new demographics. “These factors all combine to make the switch from gasoline-fuelled vehicles economically viable for most organizations and consumers. With its proven DC fast charging technology, backed by a strong company culture, Tritium has proven to be a prominent player in the transition to EVs.”
Wolfe joins Tritium with more than 20 years’ experience in the energy and cleantech industries. His special interest in climate-positive energy has seen him play a pivotal role in the solar sector through groSolar, a nationwide solar company which Wolfe founded in 1998. Throughout his career, Wolfe has also held senior leadership roles at Just Energy and Shell. Wolfe’s appointment follows a series of major milestones for Tritium in the US. In February 2017, Tritium opened its first office – which doubles as a research and development (R&D) center – in the US in Torrance, California, and has since grown to a team of 20 across the nation and to more than 300 globally.
In 2018, Gilbarco Veeder-Root, a Fortive Corporation (“Fortive”) (NYSE: FTV) business, took a minority investment in Tritium. The investment will be enable Tritium to accelerate a number of strategic activities, including operational expansion in Europe and the US.
Tritium’s proactive investments in the US have been recognized by various government offices, which has led to significant working relationships with those departments.
