Brisbane, Australia 05 March 2018: Proterra, the US manufacturer of the world’s best performing zero-emission buses, has placed an order with Tritium for 57 Veefil-RT DC 50kW fast chargers. The chargers are the first for the public transport sector to be manufactured at
the company’s recently opened sales and manufacturing facility in Torrance, California and will be available to Proterra customers across the US.

“We aim to partner with like-minded companies,” explains Matt Horton, Chief Commercial Officer at Proterra. “Proterra needed to resource a reliable, standards-based J1772 CCS plug-in charger for our Catalyst® range of energy-efficient buses and were looking for a
supplier with a similarly innovative approach to technology with the capability to tailor their product to our specifications.”

After a trial of the Veefil-RT, Tritium worked closely with the Proterra team to provide a series of modifications to the software to meet the company’s requirements.

local service engineering partners as it expands its highly-regarded UpTime customer support network.

Brisbane, Australia 10 August 2017: Australian-based Tritium has won a contract from the Queensland Government to supply 15 of its award-winning Veefil-RT 50kW fast chargers to be installed on the first phase of a new Queensland Super Highway.

The 1,800km electric super highway, from the Gold Coast to Cairns, will be the largest fast-charging network in any one state in the world and the Environment Minister and Acting Mains Road Minister, Steven Miles, said the project will kick start the EV revolution in the state.

The project is due to be operational in the next six months and, for the first time, it will be possible to drive an electric vehicle from the state’s southern border to the far north.

To further encourage the uptake of EVs, there will be no cost to drivers for use of the chargers in the first year, and the Veefil-RTs will use renewable energy purchased through green energy credits or offsets.

“This is an incredibly exciting project, and Tritium is proud to be involved – particularly as the Veefil was created in Brisbane, Queensland, our home state, and we are the only Australian designer and manufacturer of fast chargers for EVs,” explains Paul Sernia, the company’s Commercial Director.

“This project has been in planning for two years and through the competitive tender process Tritium offered a tailored solution for this fast-charging network. The launch comes at a time when major car manufacturers and countries such as Norway, the Netherlands, France and the UK have all ‘put a date in the diary’ to phase out conventional petrol and diesel cars.

“The Veefil-RT is widely regarded as the most technologically-advanced charger of its class and supports both CHAdeMO & CCS/SAE-Combo standards, they are around 25 times faster than home charging, which means a driver can add 50km range to an EV battery charge in just 10 minutes or recharge 80 per cent of the car’s battery in around 30 minutes – about the time it would take for a coffee break on a long journey.

“The Veefil–RT can also be used by commercial vehicles, and a developing fast-charging infrastructure in the state will encourage organisations to consider changing to electric fleets and electric public transport.”

There will be 18 fast-chargers along the first phase of the project, located at: Cairns, Tully, Townsville, Bowen, Mackay, Carmila, Marlborough, Rockhampton, Miriam Vale, Childers, Maryborough, Cooroy, Brisbane, Helensvale, Coolangatta, Springfield, Gatton and Toowoomba.

Brisbane, Australia 21 June 2017: Tritium, the Brisbane-based technology company and leading international specialist in developing infrastructure solutions for the electric vehicle (EV) market, has announced it has won a tender to provide 52 Vefill-UT fast chargers for the German power distribution company, Stromnetz Hamburg GmbH.

The chargers, which connect directly to the grid, have been adapted in partnership with Stromnetz Hamburg to comply fully with German regulations and retain the Veefil signature small footprint. They will also have an 11kW AC output, in addition to supporting of CHAdeMO & CCS standards.

All the units will be delivered before October 2017 and installed in the city of Hamburg.

“Stromnetz Hamburg is committed to growing its electric mobility network and wanted a fast  charger that would function in its inner city environments,” explains Paul Sernia, Tritium’s Commercial Director. “The company was attracted to Tritium’s unique liquid-cooled technology that reduces maintenance and increases the unit’s life expectancy, but equally important was our ability to produce a unit that could directly connect to the grid whist still maintaining a footprint that is much smaller
than any other comparable charger. We worked closely with Stromnetz Hamburg on the project to develop a compliant charger that also met all their functional requirements. In the narrow streets of Germany’s older city centres, the Veefil-UT can be installed on a standard pedestrian walkway without obstructing pedestrian traffic, pushchairs or wheelchairs etc.”

Brisbane, Australia 28 April 2017: Dr Alan Finkel, Chief Scientist for Australia, addressing the ‘Australia Now’ Innovation Forum 2017 in Berlin this week, as the head of the Australian Innovation Delegation to Europe, highlighted the work of Brisbane-based company Tritium and called it ‘a case study in Australian strengths’.

In Germany to address the Forum and also visit Hannover Messe Fair, Dr Finkel’s speech raised the issue of Rising to the Energy Imperative. In referring to Tritium, the technology company that is a leading international specialist in developing infrastructure solutions for the electronic vehicle (EV) market, he said:

“Challenge them to do things they haven’t done before. Take their technology through proofof-concept, in collaboration with established firms. Support them through the Valley of Death with public seed funding, and government support for market-scale demonstration projects.

“Then watch them sell their technology across the world: with a gold-standard product for the global market; and a business model proven to work.”

The facility will  service both the North and South America regions and will focus on technical customer  support, local manufacturing and R&D.

Brisbane, Australia 21 February 2017: Byron Shire Council has chosen Australia’s only home‐ designed and manufactured fast charger for electric vehicles (EV), the award‐winning, 50 kW DC Veefil, as regional New South Wales’ first fast‐charging station that can service any electric car.

Located at the Byron Bay Library car park, this is the 10th Veefil fast charger operational in Australia, although Tritium, the Brisbane‐based company that designs and manufactures the unit, acclaimed as the ‘most technologically‐advanced fast charger in its class’, exports the majority of its products globally. Currently Veefil units are being installed on major charging networks and fast‐charging highways in 18 countries.

Brisbane, Australia 23 May 2017: Brisbane‐based, Tritium, the technology company that is a leading specialist in developing infrastructure solutions for the electronic vehicle (EV) market, has announced it has started trials of its award‐winning Veefil‐RT 50kW DC charger in China, a market currently experiencing stronger growth in EV sales than the US or Europe.

Tritium is developing its strategy in China in collaboration with the Hong Kong office of Oxford University Innovation (Hong Kong), which facilitates international technology transfers between the rest of the world and Asia.

The first Veefil‐RT has been installed in Jiangsu Province, a leading innovation economy in east China, close to the financial centre of Shanghai.

“China is currently one of the most dynamic EV markets globally,” explains Tritium’s Commercial Director, Paul Sernia. “The Government is keen to stimulate sales, with a range of subsidies and purchase advantages available. Plus, the country has developed a methodology that enables it to bring new automotive models to the market rapidly. We see China as an exciting market; our Veefil‐RT charger is ‘China‐ready’ and we are actively seeking partners in the country.

“Oxford University Innovation approached us to become involved in its AutoIndustry Support Programme and it has been instrumental in facilitating some very productive meetings with prospective Chinese partners.
